How To Measure Yourself To Find The Right Suit

Finding the right suit might be quite a chore since it will make or break your credentials in style. It will completely create a brand new you or might destroy your current self. There are factors that will help you look taller or even disguise that you look like you have some extra pounds. Getting a good suit is a lifetime investment, so you need to consider it carefully to get the right one. It will make you feel like a King when you wear it.

These days, you have the option to go for online shopping, but seeing that you can’t get a feel of the suit personally, here are some tips that will help you get started. All you need is to measure your proportions at home.

The proper fit

Starting with the shoulders, the suits should hug your shoulders and must appear neat. There must be no excess fabric or material that will look strained on your body. Pull both of your arms around you and forward. At this point, take a good look at the seam if you feel that it is right. If it seems tight to you and you don’t feel comfortable with it, go for a different fit.

With your chest, the suit jacket must be buttoned easily and at the same time not too loose. Once they are buttoned, place both your hands between yourself and the jacket. Once doing this, you must feel comfortable from within. You want something else but not too excessive. It if is wider in that part, you need to opt for a smaller size.

The length of your suit is determined by your arms by hanging them down on both sides. Cup the hem of the jacket to your hands when doing this. If you can reach this easily, the suit is too long. If it is shorter, then it is only a matter of personal preference. A lot of modern jackets these days only sit one or two inches below the suit’s cuff.

The length of the sleeve is defined by placing both arms at the side of the jacket’s cuff. It should fall at the base of the thumb where it meets the wrist. The cuff of your shirt must be at least 1 to 2cm visible.

As of recently, there is the trend of suit trousers, like ones that sit on the waist. This suits any style or body type, as long as you are confident with what you are wearing. Keep in mind that the cut of the trouser leg must flatter your look without appearing too loose or too tight. There are the classic trousers, wherein it nicely sits on top of the shoe you are wearing, but not long enough that it touches the floor. It creates a soft crease at the front. For a more modern look, the tapered leg must rest at the top of the shoe.
